European Android Market: Music and Podcasts Apps Shine in Q1 2021

The first quarter of 2021 has seen significant activity in the Music and Podcasts category on the Android platform in Europe. Here's an overview of the performance of the top five apps in this segment, with insights by Sensor Tower.

VK Music: playlists & podcasts experienced a consistent revenue trend, starting the quarter at around $42K and peaking at nearly $58K in early March. Downloads for the app saw a decline from 47K in late December to 30K at the end of March, while weekly active users fluctuated, ending the quarter with 2.7M active users.

Yandex Music, Books & Podcasts showed a strong revenue increase from $41K to nearly $56K in early March, before settling at around $46K. Downloads dipped from 157K to 124K, but the app's weekly active users grew impressively from 5.8M to over 6.2M by the end of March.

TuneIn Radio: Music & Sports saw a variable revenue trend, with a high of $14.9K in late January, and a low of around $9.2K towards the quarter's end. Downloads remained fairly stable, hovering around 33K to 31K, and weekly active users increased slightly from 392K to 403K.

Podimo - Podcasts & Audiobooks reported modest revenue figures, starting at approximately $9K and peaking at $12.8K in early March. Downloads, however, showed a declining trend from 18K in mid-January to just over 3K by the end of March. Weekly active users peaked at around 51K in late January and saw a minor decrease to 36K by the end of the quarter.

Lastly, Sueñovela had relatively low revenue numbers, starting at $1K and reaching $4K in late March. This app's download numbers showed a mixed trend, with a peak of 10K in mid-January, and ending the quarter with 4K downloads. Weekly active users saw a peak of over 10K in mid-January and concluded the quarter with around 6.4K.
